Postdoctoral Fellow Dan Gregory (UCR) of the Lyons (UCR) group received recognition for an outstanding thesis during the year of his graduation from the University of Tasmania, Australia.
Leanne Hancock (UCR) was selected to attend a one-month summer course at the University of Namibia, focusing on nutrient cycling in the Benguela Upwelling Ecosystem. Students will be working from the R/V MIRABILIS and in the laboratories of the Marine Research Center in Henties Bay. Bridget Lee (UCR) will attend a three-day workshop entitled "Antarctica’s...
Postdoctoral Fellow Dan Gregory (UCR) received the NASA Astrobiology Early Career Collaboration Award to work with Steve Romaniello (ASU) and Aleisha Johnson (ASU) in examining the rates and mechanisms of pyrite oxidation. Gregory studied at the University of Tasmania, Australia before beginning his fellowship at UCR with Professor Tim Lyons.
Alternative Earths collaborator Jim Kasting (PSU) will receive the 2016 NAS Award in Early and Life Sciences - Stanley Miller Medal for his development of numerical models that have provided fundamental insights into the evolution of Earth’s atmosphere through time and the impact of atmospheric evolution on our planet’s climate and habitability.
